In an effort to verify this and perhaps get some more official information, belamifilm.com contacted Protagonist Pictures directly. We asked them if they could confirm any release dates, for any country. Their response was:
‘No confirmed release date as yet so anything circulating on the web is purely speculative.’When we asked specifically about the Studio Canal release date, we were told that date is a tentative release date … and is likely to change
And finally, Protagonist Pictures were able to confirm to belamifilm.com that Bel Ami will in fact be screening at film festivals in the future but they have not yet decided on which ones. We will keep you posted on this as we find out more.
It looks as though we will have to wait a little longer to get some North American distributor news as well as some official release dates for the film. Wish we had more confirmed information to share but we will keep you posted as we hear more.
